Descendant of Edward I, King of England,

Mary Launce married [Rev.] John Sherman about 1645, as his second wife.[1][2] John Sherman was born 26 Dec. 1613 at Dedham, Essex, England,[2] and immigrated to New England with his parents about 1635,[2] after obtaining degrees at Cambridge.[1] He was serving as first minister of Branford, Connecticut (1644-1647) at the time of their marriage.[1] In 1647 he was called to Watertown, Massachusetts, where he served as its minister until his death, (will proved 6 Oct. 1685).[1] Mary and John had twenty children, according to Cotton Mather, their contemporary.[1] Mary died at Watertown 9 March 1709/10.[1] 202
