William Sloan provided surety for September 17, 1804 marriage of Sarah Sloan and John Rutherford in Wayne Co. Kentucky. I'm going to assume Sarah is William’s daughter.
Karin says:"They were found on the 1820 Census of Switzerland Co., IN, then 1830, 40, and 50 in Washington Co., IN On the 1850 census, John Rutherford is 77, M, Farmer,VA, she is 65, keeping house, born PA, their son James (one of 10) is still residing there with his future wife (Margaret Green) This researcher has a death date for John Rutherford as 1830, but I am sure this is wrong because I've seen the record myself (1850 census) and am pretty doggone sure they are alive in 1850! They are buried in the Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Washington Co., IN (near Salem), perhaps someone miss read his tombstone inscription."
