NATHANIEL MILBY 3rd
OF DELAWARE AND ILLINOIS AND DESCEN ANTS OF SEVENTH GENERATION
Nathaniel Milby 3rd, son of Levin 2nd,Levin 1st, Nathaniel 1st, Peter 1st, John 2nd, John 1st. B. Feb. 28, 1804, Sussex Co. Del. D. July 30, 1873. M. Elizabeth (Eliza) Burton Wilson Oct. 26th, 1829 in Del. She was b. Dec. 5,1809, d. Oct. 21, 1873. :both are buried on farm 3 mi. east of Rushville, Schuyler Co., Ill..
They lived at Cedar Creek Hundred, and had a blacksmith shop at Argo's Corners three or four miles east of Milford, Del. on Route 14. In 1836 his mother, Margaret Prettyman Toomey settled her estate in Del. and they all left there and may have gone to Kentucky where his brother William Prettyman Milby was living. In 1840 or '41 they were in Schuyler Co. Ill., Sec. 27, east of Rushville. Here they cleared the land, farmed, built their home, and raised nine children--also four children of his deceased brother Benjamin L.
with the help of his mother Margaret P. M. Toomey. There may have been as many as four log houses on the 8o Acres. I'm quite sure there were three, near the cemetery, as I filled in the depressions where the root and fruit caves had been, also quite a lot of stoneware pieces, and some rock were found near each cave sight. There was a spring close-by that furnished cool, clear water almost the year round when I was young. (Edward S. Milby.)
