Misc. Notes
My father divorced my mother in 1943. He emigrated from Sweden (from my mother and from the military service - it was war). I think he first went to Canada, and that he came to the USA in 1943.
1686He became an American citizen in 1954.
He married his second time in San Francisco, Calif., on June 4th 1955.
My father's name is - as you know - GUNNAR PORS JOHANSEN (he changes the spelling of his name from Johannssen to Johansen when he become American citizen). I think (I'm not sure of this) his wife beofre marriage had the name EDNA W. FAULKNER (she was called "Betty").
Living at 3546 20th Street in San Francisco in 1970 according to the Telephone Directory.

To: kenbower@kenbower.comHello Ken !
Thank you for the excerpts about Gunnar Johannssen.
Yes, I'm sure this is about my father.
We (I and my mother) are not quite sure when Gunnar left Sweden. He was a sailor in the merchant navy, and it was war. I guess he didn't like his life that way (neither the war nor the family). So he left the war and his family (deserted). I am not quite sure where he went, but as far as I remember he later told me he first went to Canada (I think Canada was not at war). Then he lived in New Foundland, and after that to the USA.
I think he first belong to the Union (sailors union) on the East Coast and later belonged to the Union on the West Cost.
Gunnar arrived to USA about 1943. And he lived in San Francisco 1950 (maybe already 1949). Where he lived (towns or addresses) in the years 1943-1950 I don't know.
I could not find anything new for me in the excerpt you sent, but it was very nice to see it.
Best regards
PA Johannssen
