Sherman Family Genealogy
One of the first Shermans to come to America was Rev. John Sherman. He was born in 1613 in Dedham, Essex England. He came to America
with his wife in 1632 on the ship the Elizabeth with his wife Mary Launce whowas a descendent of the Royal Line of England, and his father
Edmund. He settled in Watertown, Massachusetts as a Pastor. In 1635 he moved to Wethersfield, Conn. In 1647 he returned to Watertown
and the remainder of Mr. Sherman's life was spent in the service of the church at Watertown. They had 13 children so many Americans are
descendants of this couple. The tables below show how we are related to Rev. Sherman, and how Roger Sherman, a signer of the Declaration
of Independence is also related to Rev. Sherman and the Bower family.
The Common ancestor to both of the Family Lines is Henry Sherman Sr.born in 1510 in Dedham, Essex Co, England. He died 1590 in the same location.

Roger Sherman (1721 – 1793) was an early American statesman, lawyer, and a Founding Father of the United States. He is
the only person to sign all four great state papers of the United States: the Continental Association, the Declaration of
Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the Constitution. He also signed the 1774 Petition to the King.
