Jane had a child before she married John. Her name was Catherine Watson. She was born in Yorkshire England. Catherine married George Wright. They had a daughter Mary Ann Wright. She became the wife of John and Jane Atkinson's youngest son, Simeon. He married his neice.

The words on the tombstone at Victoria Square read:
Reader behold as you pass by
As you are now so once was I
